A playful element to an in-store activation for New Zealand Avocado, with a branded photo app and an in-store competition linked to their Facebook page, had seriously good results. Our team served slices of New Zealand avocado on rice crackers, topped with prosciutto and cherry tomatoes across supermarkets in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch to raise brand awareness. Shoppers had the opportunity to win a tray of avocados and a $100 supermarket voucher by having their photo taken with Ollie the Avocado, the New Zealand Avocado mascot. The photo app activation was linked to the New Zealand Avocado’s Facebook page, and to enter the competition consumers were emailed a link so they could ‘like’ the page.
Alongside the fun that was had, with the Brand Ambassadors engaging consumers to enjoy a moment of silliness, an additional 1834 new followers to New Zealand Avocado Facebook page during the promotional period delivered ongoing consumer engagement with the brand.
